Aeroplan and Chase's new partnership!

Aeroplan just recently changed their program, and they have added multiple, unique transfer partners. Currently, you can earn Aeroplan miles by transferring American Express Membership Rewards and Capital One Rewards to the program. That is changing in 2021 with the advent of Chase!

Chase Ultimate Rewards earns a Transfer Partner!

In late 2021, you will be able to add Chase Ultimate Rewards to Air Canada Aeroplan. The points will transfer at a 1:1 ratio. This is a fantastic addition as it adds another Star alliance member to Chase’s portfolio and removes the dependency on United for Chase loyalists. This will be Chase’s 14th transfer partner.

Chase and Aeroplan team up with Mastercard for a new credit card!

Chase will also launch a new credit card cobranded with Aeroplan. This will be a Mastercard. This is surprising as most Chase cards are VISA, so Mastercard must have cut a really good deal for both Air Canada and Chase. We don’t know anything about the benefits; however, I believe it will have some creative offerings!

In Air Canada’s press release, Mark Nasr, Vice President, Loyalty and eCommerce, Air Canada said: "The strength of the newly transformed Aeroplan program combined with this partnership will drive significant growth and engagement — focusing on the over two million U.S. residents with strong ties on both sides of the border."

Bottom line:

I think this has added tremendous value to the Aeroplan program. After this addition, I believe this program to be rising up the ranks in terms of frequent-flier quality to Alaska’s MileagePlan and Delta’s SkyMiles program. Air Canada is truly stepping up to its commitment to bring innovative offerings to the Aeroplan program and the frequent-flier community!
