Alaska Airlines Oneworld status tiers!

With Alaska Airlines joining Oneworld on March 31st, 2021, it is about time that we get to know how Alaska’s MileagePlan Status Tiers match up to the Oneworld system. Well, now we know!

In a press release, Alaska’s president Ben Minicucci said: "As the airline industry continues to recover, we expect an increasing number of our guests to look ahead to international travel once again. If you've worked hard to earn status with us, all that hard work will go even further with benefits in Oneworld to make your journey even more enjoyable."

What does this mean for me?

This is a massive step forward for Alaska’s elite members. With Alaska joining a global alliance, Alaska's status and its miles just got a whole lot more valuable. One concern that I do have is the fact that Alaska might lose some of its Star-Alliance partners such as Singapore Airlines.

On the flip side, having Alaska status has some form of recognition across the Oneworld network. We don’t know all the changes that are in the works at Alaska, but I hope they are reasonable to the entire frequent-flier community.
